Peruvian Opal Sterling Silver Pendant

A beautiful one of a kind Peruvian Opal pendant, handmade in sterling silver and part of my limited Patterns on Water Collection.

The striking teardrop shaped Peruvian Opal measures approximately 28 x 18 mm and has wonderful natural variations of turquoise, blue and sea green. These colours were what first drew me to the stones, reminding me immediately of the constantly changing colours of the sea.

I have surrounded the stone with a wide sterling silver border, individually textured by hand with fine radiating lines. The lines draw the eye in towards the opal and make this a particularly striking statement pendant.

Turn the pendant over and there is another detail.

Rather than completely enclosing the stone, I have left the back open so you can see the reverse of the Peruvian Opal. The surrounding silver is textured with an irregular pattern inspired by the crazy shapes created on the surface of water when sunlight shines across it.
